Medical Emergency: Contact the local emergency authorities to get immediate assistance. Once you’re in a safe location, contact Generali Global Assistance as soon as possible so that they can start monitoring your medical care. If your case requires a medical evacuation, GGA’s medical team will determine the safest method of transport once you are deemed fit enough to travel. If an evacuation is required, the 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team must pre-approve.
GGA can also help with:
Travel Emergency: If you’re experiencing a travel emergency (say, your airline has canceled your flight or your credit card got stolen) GGA can provide support. Generali has local resources throughout the world, so even if you’re in a remote location, you can contact them to help you figure out an alternative travel plan, arrange transportation tickets or replace travel documents such as visas and passports.
The most important thing to remember is to contact GGA as soon as possible. GGA can assist you in major foreign languages. Interpreters are standing by, and for more complex translations, GGA can refer you to local translators.
Generali Global Assistance has the ability to receive local and collect calls and correspondence through emails. If you can't get in touch, or vice versa, Generali Global Assistance has a local presence in more than 200 countries around the world. Generali Global Assistance will work with hospital employees, hotel staff, tour leaders, family members back home, and companion travelers to determine the best way to communicate with you.
It’s always best that you call yourself, but it’s understandable that in an emergency, it’s not always possible. Anyone capable of providing your basic information (name, age and contact info) – such as your tour leader, travel agent, a family member at home, your hospital or travel companion – can give GGA a call for assistance and provide updates throughout the case. Due to privacy laws, GGA Generali can release information only to those designated by you on your medical release authorization.
Besides emergency medical and transportation, Generali Global Assistance provides a number of other travel support services. You can get information about your destinations, such as visa and passport requirements, health hazard advisories, currency exchange rates, and immunization requirements. GGA also offers a concierge service, where you can make restaurant and rental car reservations, purchase tickets for sports, concerts and theater performances, and get food delivered to your hotel or rental.
