Traveling on a one-way ticket? Don’t have a return flight booked? No problem!

American travelers don’t need a round-trip ticket to buy a travel insurance* plan. You can get a World Nomads travel insurance plan with a one-way ticket. You can also buy a plan while already traveling, with or without a ticket home. But there are some things to consider if you’re traveling on a one-way ticket:

  • Make sure that any countries you are visiting allow travel on a one-way ticket. Many countries require proof of onward travel. You can visit travel.state.gov to research your destinations’ requirements.
  • You’ll need to list all the countries you plan to visit when you purchase your travel insurance plan. If you’re not sure where your plans will take you, you can select ‘worldwide’ when you get a quote.
  • If you need to be evacuated from your destination for a covered reason (medical, natural disaster, terrorism, etc.) and you do not have a return ticket home, you will be responsible for the cost of the return ticket. We consider a trip one with a start and end date, and if there is no end date, an evacuation is not a free ride home.

For any questions relating to this, you can send a message or call our underwriting, claims and service partner Trip Mate direct: +1-844-207-1930 (toll free within the US and Canada)

When you’re ready, you can get a quote and buy online 24/7.
