Am I covered if I haven’t left home and need to cancel my trip due to a confirmed COVID case?

If you have had to cancel your much anticipated trip overseas because of you or someone in your travelling party having a confirmed case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) then you may be covered for the following:

  • You or a member of your travelling party are diagnosed with Coronavirus, and you must cancel your trip, we will pay the non-refundable portion of your pre-paid travel arrangements. The attending medical practitioner must certify that, due to the diagnosis, you or they are medically unfit to continue with your original travel plans. The diagnosis of Coronavirus must be made after the policy purchase.
  • Your close relative or business partner in New Zealand is hospitalised or dies due to Coronavirus and you must cancel your trip, we will pay the non-refundable portion of your prepaid travel arrangements. The diagnosis of Coronavirus must be made after policy purchase.

Apart from COVID-related cancellations, we provide cover for Trip Cancellation expenses if something sudden and unavoidable has happened causing you to cancel or rearrange your trip before you leave home, but only if the reason follows an insured event.

  • Go to the closest medical facility for the emergency medical treatment you need.
