In response, Chinese authorities have shut down Wuhan’s entire transport network, including bus, rail, ferry and airport. Isolated cases have also occurred in neighboring countries and the USA.
With the Chinese New Year travel season already underway, disruption to travel is expected to increase.
This outbreak is now widely reported in the media and by authorities such as the World Health Organization (WHO). The Canadian government has also issued a “Avoid non-essential travel to Hubei province” warning. For any trip cancellation coverage, the defer travel recommendation must have been issued after the effective date of your policy and after you paid for your travel arrangements. For trip interruption coverage, the defer travel recommendation must have been issued after the start date of your trip.
