World Nomads offers cover for more than 100 countries worldwide except those that have specific Government 'Do Not Travel' warnings in place, and any sanctioned countries. All you need to do is pick the county or region you’re travelling to, and we’ll tell you if we provide cover to that destination or not.
When you get a quote, if you try to add a country that has a current 'Do not travel' warning or select a sanctioned country, we'll tell you if we provide cover to that destination or not
Just be aware that sanctions and government warnings change regularly. We'll tell you when you get a quote if we can provide cover to travel to a specific country or region. When you get a quote, you can add individual countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos) or regions (Asia, Europe, Worldwide) or a mix of both (Thailand, Vietnam, Asia). The more detail you give us on where you're going, the more helpful we can be.
Cover for any specific country will vary depending on the amount of time you spend there, for example, you may only be transiting through a country and only spending time at the airport for your stopover before continuing your trip.
Our plans will only cover you when travelling outside of Australia. When you buy a policy, you must select all the countries where you’ll spend at least 72 hours of your trip. Your chosen countries will be shown on your Certificate of Insurance. Please be aware that our cost to insure travellers is higher for some countries and regions than others, so the premium we charge takes this into consideration.
While we endeavour to provide cover to as many countries and regions around the globe as possible, there are some that we just don’t provide cover for. Government sanctions may also restrict us from paying claims in certain countries, so we are not legally allowed to offer cover in sanctioned or restricted countries.
Your policy will provide cover for your chosen countries and regions of travel unless there’s a ‘Do not travel’ warning issued by the Australian Government or other official authority, and you choose to go there anyway. Refer to www.smartraveller.gov.au for details before you go and while travelling for the latest alerts and travel advice.
If you need more information related to travelling to coverage for countries or regions which have a ‘Do not travel’ warning in place please check out our article - Am I covered by travel insurance if there's a travel warning in place where I'm going?
You are free to choose as many countries or change your mind on any countries or regions while getting a quote. But please note that you won’t be able to change your selected countries or regions once the policy is selected and paid for.
