We're always on the lookout for experienced, professional travel writers to help us produce our content – ideally, someone who knows the topic well. Here's what to know if you'd like to join our team of freelancers.

Please become familiar with the content we have, so you don't waste your time pitching something to us that doesn’t fit our brand or have already featured.

We're looking for articles that offer your wellness tips, travel hacks, and/or practical advice to help our travelers get the most out of their trip.

Important writing guidelines

  • We’re looking for your first-hand expertise and experiences. If you aren’t an expert yourself, you will be expected to include reputable sources and/or get quotes from an expert.
  • Include some humor. Be light-hearted and don't take yourself or your writing too seriously. We want to entertain the reader, not just inform them.
  • Read our  Responsible Traveler’s Manifesto to make sure we are on the same page about how to travel.

Ready to pitch?

If responding to a TravMedia pitch, we’d love to see your working title (40 characters max), a short synopsis (no more than 250 words) explaining the subject of your pitch, what makes it compelling, and why you are the right person to tell it. Also, tell us a little bit about yourself and your professional experience.

Payment for written content

We pay AUD $0.70 per word for written content. Depending on the detail the editors are looking for, this will determine how many words maximum.

Most of our content falls between 800–1,200 words in length.

Please note we receive a lot of pitches, and unfortunately we can’t respond to all of them. If we decide to pursue your idea, we’ll let you know.

    Are you a budding travel writer, photographer, or videographer? We have several channels for you to share your work and have it promoted to a global audience. We're actively involved on Instagram , so if you have travel photos or vlogs you'd like to share, we're keen to have you involved. If wielding a video camera is more your thing, then we'd love to see your work and possibly promote through our Youtube and Vimeo channels.

    If you're keen to turn your travel passion into a profession, then check out our travel scholarship program. We run two or three a year in travel writing, film, and content creation.
