Hurricane Milton – October 7 2024

For residents of the United Kingdom  

On Tuesday, 8 October 2024, a State of Emergency was announced for Florida as emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Milton intensify. Evacuations have begun throughout Florida while the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency coordinate relief and evacuation efforts. Disruption to travel is anticipated, as airports shut down in response to the hurricane. 

Policies purchased after 12:00am, 7 October 2024, BST will not provide cover for losses arising from this hurricane event as the event is now widely reported in the media. 

This does not impact cover provided by policies purchased prior to this time (both Single Trip and Annual Multi-Trip), subject to the terms of the policy.

How does this event affect your cover 

Policies purchased after an event occurs will not provide cover for any losses which arise in relation to that event.  

If you already had a policy with us, Trip Disruption cover is available on Explorer plan only. Our Standard plan can offer for your personal belongings and emergency medical. Cover is subject to the policy terms and conditions. 

If your travel plans are affected 

If you need to change your travel arrangements, contact your airline, cruise company or travel agent for assistance in the first instance.  

Please retain all supporting documentation evidencing expenses incurred. Please remember as a term of your policy you must do everything you can to minimise losses.  If you need to submit a claim, please complete the claim form and if you need help doing this, contact us.
