Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki Ash Cloud - Indonesia - November 2024

For residents of  Ireland

Since Friday, 8 November 2024, Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki has erupted several times due to heightened volcanic activity. The volcano has released thick ash clouds up to 10 kilometres into the sky and the Indonesian government has established an exclusion zone around the volcano. In addition, many airports have shut down and airlines have cancelled flights. Disruption to travel is anticipated as the volcanic activity continues in the region.

The Policy will not provide cover for known events. As a known event we would consider something that was widely reported in the media. In this instance, it was the evening of 13 November 2024 (07:00am GMT).

This does not impact cover provided by policies purchased prior to this time, subject to the terms of the policy.

If you’re already travelling

If you hold a policy with us and require emergency assistance due to this event, please contact Emergency Medical Assistance team as soon as it’s practical and safe to do so.

How does this event affect your cover

Policies purchased after an event occurs will not provide cover for any losses which arise in relation to that event.

If you already have a policy with us, coverage is available subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.

If your travel plans are affected

If you need to change your travel arrangements, contact your airline, cruise company or travel agent for assistance in the first instance.

Please retain all supporting documentation evidencing expenses incurred. Please remember as a term of your policy, you must do everything you can to minimise losses. If you need to submit a claim, please complete the claim form and if you need help doing this, contact us.
