On Friday, 27 September 2024, the National Hurricane Centre issued advisories for Hurricane Helene as it strengthens into a Category 4 storm. The Florida region has experienced significant rainfall and widespread power outages. Disruption to travel is anticipated, as airlines cancel flights in response to the hurricane.
Policies purchased after 12:00pm, 27 September 2024, IST will not provide cover for losses arising from this hurricane event as the event is now widely reported in the media.
This does not impact cover provided by policies (both Single Trip and Annual Mult-Trip) purchased prior to this time, subject to the terms of the policy.

How does this event affect your cover
Policies purchased after an event occurs will not provide cover for any losses which arise in relation to that event.
If you already had a policy with us, natural catastrophe coverage is available on Standard and Explorer plans. Cancelling your trip or cutting your trip short are only available on the Explorer plan. Cover is subject to the policy terms and conditions and exclusions.
If your travel plans are affected
If you need to change your travel arrangements, contact your airline, cruise company or travel agent for assistance in the first instance.
Please retain all supporting documentation evidencing expenses incurred. Please remember as a term of your policy you must do everything you can to minimise losses. If you need to submit a claim, please complete the claim form and if you need help doing this, contact us.
