Travel Insurance: What is my Country of Residence?

For information relating to policies purchased prior to 27 June 2024, please check the Policy Wording provided with your purchase. You can contact us if you need this sent to you again. For policies purchased from 27 June 2024, please see below.

Your Country of Residence is the country which must be Belgium, Germany, Denmark or the Netherlands, where you are a citizen or legal resident, have your home, and to where you intend to return after your trip.

When you apply for insurance, you need to meet certain eligibility criteria; one which relates to country of residence.

Please be aware that your policy can’t cover any medical expenses incurred within your country of residence. All people on a policy must be from the same country of residence. If you are traveling with people from different countries of residence, they will have to buy separate policies, which may have different terms and conditions of cover.

You can buy insurance even if you’re already traveling and not at home in your country of permanent residency.

Each policy has specific conditions or definitions of residence, so do read the policy wording carefully for full details.

This is only a summary of cover and does not include the full terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions of the policy. You should read your policy wording in full, so you understand what is and isn’t covered. If you are unsure about your level of travel cover, please contact us for help.
