1. Safety first

Make sure everyone is safe and out of immediate danger. If the matter is pressing, contact the local emergency services, who should be able to respond in a timely manner

2. Seek medical attention

Get medical help from a health care practitioner, such as a doctor, or by going to a hospital. If you contact our 24/7 Emergency Assistance team, they can help direct you to nearby medical facilities (You’ll also need to notify the team before undergoing any procedures or surgeries.)

3. Get it in writing

After an accident, gathering documents may be the last thing on your mind. But it’s important to get the right paperwork before leaving the scene of the accident or the doctor’s office or hospitalGet help from a travel companion if you need to. The types of documents we’re looking for include:

  • Doctor or other medical practitioner’s reports
  • Hospital admission reports
  • Ambulance and medical evacuation reports
  • Police reports

4. Keep your receipts

You'll need to keep original receipts and official reports as evidence for your claim. Supporting documents could include your itineraries, receipts for any meals or accommodations for a bedside companion, and hospital and physician reports. We reserve the right to reduce or reject your claim should you not have the proper records.

5. Prepare your claim

Read over your insurance policy to see what’s covered and to check if any terms, conditions or exclusions apply. With World Nomads, you can file your claim through our web site and send in any original documentation afterwards.

If you have questions about coverage or the claims process, just ask us.
