Lauren David is a Barcelona-based freelance journalist who specializes in food and travel. She's lived in three regions of Spain—Andalucía, the Basque Country, and Catalonia—has visited all 17 autonomous regions, and is fluent in Spanish.
Her work has been published in National Geographic, The Washington Post, AARP, US News and World Report, and more.
Her biggest travel feat was traveling via local transport from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to Cape Town, South Africa—a nine-month journey she braved with only a one-way ticket, a 60-liter backpack, and a trusted guidebook, all before smartphones.
