Am I covered by travel insurance if my cash is stolen?

If you purchased the Explorer Plan and your money was stolen or lost while carried on your person or left in a locked safety deposit box then cover is available.

What does World Nomads cover if your cash has been stolen?

We define money as: hard currency i.e. bank notes and coins.

You can claim up to £200 per person for lost or stolen money. There is also an excess of £100 applied per person per trip in the event of a claim.

What you must do if your money is stolen or lost

  • Go to the local police station asap for a written police report if your money has been stolen. You’ll need to do this within 24 hours of the discovery of the theft.
  • Find and keep the evidence of the initial withdrawal of the cash that was stolen or lost.

What's not covered:

Travel insurance is not designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the full description of cover in the policy wording so you'll know exactly what is and isn't covered.

Your claim may be denied if you did not exercise reasonable care in protecting your money against theft.
