Yes, pregnancy is covered by the policy, although be aware there are restrictions to this cover.
What’s covered
If you suffer an accidental bodily injury or unexpected illness causing pregnancy complications while travelling abroad, there’s cover for emergency medical expenses including surgical treatment and hospital charges.
However, please be aware that at the time your trip is due to start you are not more than 28 weeks. (24 weeks for multiple births). Confirmation must also be received form a midwife or General Practitioner that you are fit to travel.
What’s not covered
The policy isn’t designed to cover everything. Take the time to read your policy wording for full details on what is and isn’t covered. That way there are no surprises if you need to use it.
Here are some of the main things that aren’t covered relating to pregnancy:
- Any expenses related to routine ante-natal care or post-natal care;
- Normal costs or losses associated with a single or multiple pregnancy or childbirth including but not limited to, delivery by caesarean section or any other medically or surgically assisted delivery which does not cause complications;
- Anything else that’s listed in the in the policy wording relating to pregnancy.
