Hey there, adventure seekers! If your trip takes an unexpected twist and you're wondering about travel insurance for emergency transport, medical evacuation, and repatriation expenses, we've got the scoop you need.

Cover for accidents, illness, and unfortunate situations when abroad

You're out there chasing thrills, but accidents happen. Whether you stumble upon an injury, catch a serious bug, or face the unimaginable, we've got your back when it comes to emergency transport, medical evacuation, and getting you safely back home to the UK.

Do you possess a GHIC/EHIC card?

You must carry your valid UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to access medically necessary, state provided healthcare.

GHIC is your passport to accessing state healthcare at a fraction of the cost or even for free. If you already possess a UK or European Health Insurance Card, fret not! It remains valid until the expiry date displayed on the card. However, when that time comes, it's important to apply for a GHIC to seamlessly continue enjoying the benefits.

Cover available under this travel insurance policy is in excess of any statutory health insurance, or any available reciprocal health agreements (including your Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)).

Location, location, location: where you are matters

Picture this: you're in a sticky situation, and you need emergency medical transport. No worries! The location and your medical situation play a vital role in determining your options. Depending on where you are and the circumstances, we'll find the most suitable medical facility and mode of transport. We're well aware that your adventure can take you to remote corners of the world, so we've got the know-how to navigate those challenging situations.

Whether it's a road ambulance or a helicopter ride (when medically necessary), or any other suitable means, we'll whisk you away to the nearest, quality hospital or medical facility. And if the situation calls for it, we'll go above and beyond with air ambulances and class upgrades.

Remember, it's important to keep us in the loop. If our Emergency Medical Assistance team is not contacted or if you arrange your own repatriation or transport that is determined to not be medically necessary or reasonable under the circumstances, cover may be limited. We are experienced in handling the logistics so let us navigate the mazy path that is emergency medical transportation for you.

Repatriation: bringing you home, comfort and all

Sometimes, getting back home is what you need most. If our Emergency Medical Assistance team determines that repatriation is medically required, we've got your back.

  • We'll arrange reasonable transportation to bring you back home, including air ambulances and class upgrades because you deserve the best;
  • If you require a medical escort (i.e. doctor, registered nurse) or personal escort (i.e. your travel buddy, friend, or immediate relative) to accompany you (or your insured child if you are unable to), we've got their tickets covered too;

Dealing with the unexpected, even in final moments

No one wants to think about it, but we've got your back even in the face of tragedy. If you pass away while adventuring overseas, our repatriation cover steps in. We'll take care of:

  • Funeral expenses (burial or cremation) overseas; or
  • Transporting your remains back home; or
  • Cremation overseas and bringing your ashes home;
  • It's our way of ensuring a peaceful farewell, even in the face of the unexpected.

Knowing the limits to avoid surprises

Okay, folks, let's talk about what's not covered. We've got your back in many situations, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind:

  • The cost of your return flight home isn't covered since it's considered a regular travel expense;
  • If you decide not to be repatriated after being declared medically unfit, any additional costs are on you;
  • Pre-existing medical conditions are also not covered, so make sure to read the Policy Wording for the full scoop on the cover terms and conditions;
  • And once you're back home, any further costs are no longer covered.

The policy isn’t designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions in the Policy Wording for full details, so that there are no surprises if you need to use it. If you’re not sure if something is covered, get in touch
