This cover only applies to Australian and New Zealand countries of residence. For all other countries of residence, there's no cover under any policy.
If you've booked a trip to an international sporting event, funeral, or concert and it gets cancelled or you're forced to use alternate transport to get there, there's cover under the cancellation or trip interruption benefits. This means you can either claim for your pre-paid, non refundable transport and accommodation if you need to cancel or reasonable additional transport to get you there...whichever is cheapest.
Of course, there are limits on the cover, which you can read about in your policy. And you'll need to provide receipts and a letter from the airline to say what's happened so we can process your claim.

I was cut off by a dog whilst riding a push bike. Subsequent to my initial consultation with the doctor I was referred to hospital where I received surgery for my fractured foot and had my hand placed in a cast. I received assistance from specialty assist for my hospital bills and repatriation.
