The illness is the result of a fly, in Southern Mexico, laying eggs under the skin on my leg which later hatched into larvae. On arrival to Mexico City at about 11pm on July 17, I rang Doctor Tomas Loza and he came to my assistance at the Hotel Mallorca.
He was able to take out three of the worms, but the fourth stayed in my leg. He wrote me a prescription for Dioloxacilin and Albendazol, before giving me some valium so I would be able to sleep with the fourth worm still in my leg.
He called me the next day in the morning and said that to remove the fourth worm, the best thing to do would be to buy a piece of meat and leave it on the leg where the worm was so that it would come out.
I did so and six hours later, when I removed the meat, the worm had come 1/2 out of my leg to eat and I was able to pull it out of my leg. I called the doctor and he returned to clean the wound that had been left by the worm. He then prescribed me Butazolidina.
A few days later, on the 22nd of July, I went to LABDUR, a labratory in Mexico City, to have a blood test to check for further parasites in my body. This came up negative.
