Even with plenty of advance planning, there’s a possibility that unexpected situations can happen when you’re traveling.
What happens if you or your travel buddy get sick before your trip, and you can’t travel? Or what happens if you get hurt while hiking in Krokonose National Park? At that time, you may think travel insurance for the Czech Republic is a good idea. Unfortunately, it’ll be too late to get travel insurance after something happens. Travel insurance should be purchased when planning your trip.

World Nomads covers at least 150 activities travelers visiting the Czech Republic, including hiking and rock climbing in the Bohemian Paradise. If you want to kayak on the Elbe River or spend a day cross country skiing in the Jizera Mountains, those adventures could be covered too.
Think about the types of activities you’ll be doing while you’re there. Each plan covers different adventures so an advance plan will help you choose the best insurance for your trip—and make sure even your most daring adventure is covered.
Here are several activities under each category that World Nomads love to do:
Not all activities, sports, and experiences are covered under every plan. You may have to upgrade the policy and sporting level to receive the cover you require for the activities you plan to do. Please read your policy wording carefully before you buy.
Nobody plans to get sick or injured on vacation, but it happens. If you get injured while cycling through Sumava National Park, you may need to see a doctor.
Not all health insurance plans cover out-of-area coverage. Because of this, you may want to consider travel insurance that covers overseas emergency medical costs. If you have a medical emergency and can’t find a doctor that speaks your native language, you can also call our 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team and they can help translate.
If you’re so sick or injured that our emergency assistance team and your treating physician thinks it’s best for you to travel back home for treatment, travel insurance that covers repatriation may also help cover the costs to get you there.
Even when you spend lots of time and money planning the perfect trip, unexpected situations can happen. A travel insurance plan for the Czech Republic could reimburse you for unused, prepaid, non-refundable travel expenses if your trip is canceled or interrupted for a covered reason. For example, if your trip to the Czech Republic gets canceled because an airline strike stops you from getting there, you could be reimbursed for non-refundable tours and hotel accommodations that you paid for in advance.
Travel insurance could also help if you’re already on your trip and it gets interrupted. For example, you may need to go home early if an immediate family member back home has an expected medical emergency or dies. Just make sure you keep all receipts and documentation in case you need to make a claim.

Prague is known for its luxury shopping, and we know it can be tempting to carry your souvenirs back home in your new Dolce & Gabbana backpack. While baggage coverage is included, just know there are policy limits. You may want to take your high value bag with you as a carry on instead of checking it. If you have any questions, contact us and we can help explain what is covered.
Violent crime isn’t a big problem in the Czech Republic but pickpocketing and purse snatching unfortunately can happen. You'll want to be extra careful when you're in crowded areas and transportation hubs. Pay attention to your surroundings, avoid putting anything valuable in your back pockets, and never take your hands off your bags.
Even when you’re being cautious, things can happen. If you’re robbed, make sure you file a police report and save a copy - you’ll need that if you have to make a claim.
Just make sure you’re also doing your part to try to avoid lost and stolen items. If you sample too many delicious Czech beers and leave your phone in a bar, we won’t be able to cover that.
Before you leave home, we encourage you to review up to date warnings on any advisories that may exist at that time to prepare you for things like poor weather or political unrest.
