You’ve made it… you’ve got your passport, baggage and are at the airport on-time and ready to head off. The only problem is your plane isn't going anywhere.
That’s where travel insurance for flight cancellation can give you a helping hand, covering some of your expenses until you can get on another flight.
If your flight is unexpectedly cancelled through no fault of your own, then our policies offer cover for additional necessary and reasonable costs (up to the benefit limits) for:
Please be aware that before submitting a claim to us, you must claim a refund or compensation from the transportation provider first.
While epidemics and pandemics are excluded from the Cancellation & Trip Interruption and Travel Disruption sections of our policy, there may be some benefits available to you if you purchased our Explorer Plan, which includes our Coronavirus Travel Costs section, providing you with cover for some Coronavirus-related events.
If you have purchased the Explorer Plan, you may have some cover for trip cancellation events which are outside of your control and caused by:
The benefit under the Explorer Plan offers travelers added coverage for up to eight scenarios, up to a combined benefit limit of USD$2,000.
Our article ‘What’s Covered for Coronavirus’ explains the benefits available if you get COVID-19 and need urgent assistance.
Important: As our plans vary, check very carefully the level of cover you think you might need, and purchase the right level of coverage for you and your traveling companions depending on your Country of Residence and specific plans.
To make a claim you will need to be able to show proof of the flight cancellation from the carrier and keep all receipts, otherwise we will not be able to pay out the claim. Other items we won’t cover include:
Your additional expenses are not considered reasonable or are above the daily sub-limit shown in the Summary of Cover.
The policy isn’t designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions in the Policy Wording for full details so that there are no surprises if you need to use it. If you’re not sure if something is covered, get in touch.
