We believe every traveler has the responsibility to give back to the places they travel to. That's why World Nomads partners with adventure travel companies like OneSeed Expeditions and works with local non-profit organizations to enable travelers to make a difference when they book.
One such non-profit is Anza, a Tanzanian organization working to improve the living conditions of local people by investing in entrepreneurs and helping start-ups and social enterprises get off the ground. With Anza's help, a potter who makes clay water filters markets his goods to villagers, giving them access to clean water, and a micro-health insurance company is able to help locals fund medical insurance to support them if they become ill when they work. Initiatives like these generate jobs in the local communities and help the wider Tanzanian economy.
This film was made by World Nomads Travel Film Scholarship winner Marissa Chabria and scholarship mentor Brian Rapsey. This annual scholarship makes it possible for an aspiring filmmaker to go on an all-expenses-paid trip overseas, to complete their own short film and be mentored by a professional filmmaker during the trip.
