On Tuesday, 8 October 2024, a State of Emergency was announced for Florida as emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Milton intensify. Evacuations have begun throughout Florida while the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency coordinate relief and evacuation efforts. Disruption to travel is anticipated, as airports shut down in response to the hurricane.
Policies purchased after 12:00pm, 8 October 2024, AEST will not provide cover for losses arising from this hurricane event as the event is now widely reported in the media.
This does not impact cover provided by policies purchased prior to this time, subject to the terms of the policy.
