World Nomads is unable to provide travel insurance cover for travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) while the the Irish government has a travel warning in place advising travelers ‘Do not travel’ to the DRC.
There are a number of reasons cited including safety, and the World Health Organisation declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern in the DRC on 17 July 2019, following a resurgence and spread of Ebola Virus Disease cases.
World Nomads will not provide cover for travelers to any of the areas designated ‘Do Not Travel’ by the relevant government department – please check your policy for more information. This includes medical and baggage cover. If you have purchased the Explorer Plan, then you may have cover for pre-trip cancellation. Please check your policy for more information.

If you have purchased the Explorer Plan, then you may have cover for pre-trip cancellation. which states “if you have no option but to cancel your trip as a result of the U.S. Department of State issuing a Do Not Travel warning to the specific area to which you were booked to travel, providing the directive came into force after you purchased this insurance or booked the trip (whichever is the later) and before you left home.”
