Travel Photography Scholarship Frequently Asked Questions
This is a 'learning opportunity' for someone who is looking for an introduction into the travel photography industry and, more importantly, is keen to be mentored. The scholarship is not open to professional photographers of any kind.
For the purposes of this opportunity, we would consider you to be professional photographer if you have been published regularly in commercial blogs, newspapers, magazines or journals. We would also consider you to be a professional photographer if you derive more than 25% of your income from photography of any kind.
If you are a finalist, you will be asked to outline your experience to date, and it will be the judging panel who decides who is most suitable based on your previous experience, photographic essay and written component.
Please consider the spirit of the program which is intended to help those with a burning desire to be a professional travel photographer and need some help getting started.
The essay is your opportunity to tell us about yourself. Tell us about YOU, what you hope to gain from the experience and what you hope to contribute back to the greater community through your photography.
DO NOT use the essay to tell us about the images in your application – that is what the captions are for. If you use the essay to tell us about your entry, you will be penalized!
