World Nomads Intrepid Japan Trip Giveaway Competition

Terms and Conditions

Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. By participating, you agree to be bound by and comply with these Terms and Conditions.

Promoter

  1. Competition is sponsored and administered by World Nomads.com Pty Ltd ABN 62 127 485 19 ("Promoter") of Level 18, 1 Farrer Place, Sydney NSW 2000. "Promoter" (also referred to as the "Sponsor" for U.S. residents).

Competition Period

  1. The Competition commences at 12:01am Eastern Standard Time on 3 March 2026 and ends at 11:59pm on 30 March 2026 (Competition Period). No entry details submitted after this time will be accepted.

Entry Eligibility

  1. The Competition is open to residents of any country or jurisdiction who are at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence (whichever is higher) except where the Competition is prohibited or restricted by law or where the Competition is subject to registration or other regulatory requirements that the Promoter is not able or required to meet. This includes without limitation residents of Mexico, Italy, Colombia, Brazil, Quebec, Crimea, Iran, Syria, North Korea, and Sudan who are ineligible to enter.
  2. This Competition is intended to be a contest of skill and not a game of chance, lottery or sweepstakes. Accordingly, registration, bonding or filing requirements applicable to games of chance are not intended to apply. However, the Competition is void in any U.S. state or jurisdiction where contests of skills are prohibited or where the Promoter is required to register or otherwise qualify the Competition and has elected not to do so.
  3. Directors, officers and employees of World Nomads, Intrepid Travel, and their respective parent companies, affiliated companies, subsidiaries, agents, contractors, professional advisers, and advertising or promotional agencies (as well as the immediate family members of such individuals and those living in the same household) are not eligible to enter or win any prize.
  4. No purchase, payment or insurance quote is necessary to enter or win. A purchase, payment or obtaining of an insurance quote will not increase an entrant's chances of winning.

Entry Instructions

To enter, individuals must complete the following entry mechanics during the Competition Period:

  1. To enter, during the Competition Period, visit https://www.worldnomads.com/campaigns/japan-trip, and submit:
    1. First name, Last name
    2. Email
    3. Country of residence
    4. Where you plan to travel next
  2. A written answer (50 words or less) explaining what experience in Japan you would love to try, and why. ("Submission").

LIMITATION ON ENTRY – Game of Skill

  1. Only one (1) entry per person. This Competition is a bona fide contest of skill. All entries will be evaluated solely by the judges based on the Judging Criteria described below, and no element of chance, random draw or lottery will be used at any stage in determining the winner.
  2. Entries that are incomplete, indecipherable or generated by bots/automation/artificial intelligence will be invalid. The Promoter reserves the right to request reasonable verification information to confirm compliance with this requirement.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. Your Submission must be in English and must not:
    1. contain disparaging or defamatory statements;
    2. include any threats to any person, place, business, or group;
    3. be obscene, offensive, or indecent;
    4. depict risky behaviour;
    5. contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm, against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age;
  2. By providing a Submission, you warrant and represent that:
    1. you own all rights in and to all Submission submitted by you (including, without limitation, all copyright and other intellectual property rights);
    2. all such Submissions are original works of authorship on your part and have not been copied, in whole or in part, from any other work and do not violate, misappropriate or infringe any copyright, trademark or other proprietary right of any other person or entity;
    3. your Submission has not been published previously.
  3. Entry into the Competition is free.

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS

  1. Submissions will be judged between 30 March 2026 and 14 April 2026, on:
    1. Creativity (50%), and
    2. Travel inspiration (50%)
    (together the "Judging Criteria"). The top-rated submission will be the Potential Winner. Judges' decisions are final. For the purposes of this Competition "Creativity" means originality of expression, uniqueness of perspective, and quality of written expression. "Travel inspiration" means the extent to which the Submission conveys enthusiasm for travel to Japan and aligns with the spirit and values of responsible and immersive travel.
  2. The Potential Winner will be notified via email within two business days of the date of selection and once the potential winner is verified, his or her name will be published on https://www.worldnomads.com/campaigns/japan-trip.
  3. As a condition of being awarded a prize, the Potential Winner must follow the instructions contained in their notification. The Promotor may require the Potential Winner to provide proof of identity, and other reasonable documentation, such as proof of country of residence.
  4. In the event: any required identity or other documents are not returned within fourteen days; or the Potential Winner is otherwise unable to accept the prize as stated, the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner pursuant to the Judging Criteria.
  5. Prize components awarded in cash (i.e. flights and travel insurance) will be transferred to winners within three (3) weeks of accepting their prize and providing required information to facilitate the transfer. Reimbursement of travel insurance will be provided upon proof of purchase of their travel insurance and providing required information to facilitate the transfer. The Promoter will make reasonable efforts to identify and locate the Prize Winner. If any Prizes remain unclaimed within three (3) months after judging is completed, the next highest judged Potential Winner will be awarded the prize.

Prize

The prize winner will receive:

  1. One (1) winner will be awarded the major prize consisting of a Japan Trip for two (2) people with an approximate retail value of $12,970 USD total ($6,485 USD per person), to be supplied by Intrepid.
  2. One (1) winner will be awarded international return economy class airfares (up to value of $1,500 USD) and Travel Insurance (reimbursement up to value of $300 USD) to be supplied by World Nomads, subject to World Nomads' policy terms, conditions and, underwriting approval (where applicable).

Prize terms and conditions

This prize is subject to the below terms and conditions and, Intrepid's booking conditions in force from time to time:

  1. The Prize must be fully booked by 30 June 2026, and travel must have commenced by 31 March 2027.
  2. One (1) winner will be awarded the major prize of a Japan Trip for two (2) people with an approximate retail value of $12,970 USD total ($6,485 USD per person) that will consist of:
    1. Two (2) spaces on a 14-Day Intrepid Travel 'Land of the Rising Sun' Tour (CJST), including local transport, some meals and selected activities (valued at up to $12,970 USD).     2. This prize must be redeemed against a new booking made by 30 June 2026 and is available for travel departing before 31 March 2027. Travel must be booked at least 3 months in advance. Black-out periods for local school holiday periods based on the winner's country of residence, along with 14th December 2026 – 14 January 2027 apply.
    3. $1,500 USD to put towards booking return flights from your home residence to Japan
    4. $300 USD to put towards purchasing a travel insurance policy to cover the duration of the prize trip. The winner is required to purchase the policy via a reputable travel insurance provider and provide World Nomads with proof of purchase, at which point we will reimburse the winner up to the value of $300 USD. The winner should ensure the policy suits their individual objectives, needs and financial situation.
    5. This prize is provided on a twin-share basis and is subject to availability and confirmation by Intrepid Travel at the time of booking.
    6. If the chosen departure does not operate for any reason or the trip is discontinued Intrepid Travel will offer the winner an equivalent Japan trip of same value to the prize winner, subject to availability.
    7. Once booked, any changes made to the prize winner's booking may incur a cancellation fee or amendment fee, at the cost of the winner.
  3. The winner must contact Intrepid Travel directly via email (sales@intrepidtravel.com) or phone (+ 61 1300 255 485) to book the prize, quoting the promotion code supplied by the Promoter to the winner. It is the responsibility of the prize winner to book and travel by the required date.
  4. The winner will be required to agree to Intrepid's current Booking Conditions at the time of booking including any applicable policies or waivers that are in place at the time.
  5. This prize applies to the land element of trip only and cannot be redeemed against flights, accommodation, meals, domestic transfers, travel insurance, single supplement payment, activities, spending money or local payments/kitties not covered by the itinerary.
  6. Any request to change to a different Intrepid Travel trip is at the discretion of Intrepid Travel and is not guaranteed.
  7. The Prize is strictly non-transferable to another person nor is it redeemable for cash.
  8. The Prize is subject to availability at time of booking. A minimum of four (4) travellers must be confirmed on the Intrepid trip for the prize winner booking to be confirmed on their requested date. The Promoter reserves the right to replace the Prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter's control makes it necessary to do so.
  9. The winner is responsible for ensuring that they have valid passports, and any required visas, vaccinations, travel insurance and other travel documentation, and for complying with applicable laws, health requirements or government travel advisories.

Collection and use of your personal information

Personal Information including the entrant's name, address, telephone number and email will be collected and used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting this Competition. This may require disclosure to third parties, including the Promoter's agents or third-party service providers, for the purpose of conducting the Competition.

  2. The Promoter will not share your personal information with promotional partners unless you have provided your express consent (for example, by selecting the relevant opt-in box on the entry form).
  3. If you have selected the opt-in box on the entry form agreeing to share your personal information with Intrepid Travel, you consent to the Promoter disclosing your personal information to Intrepid Travel and its related entities and to Intrepid Travel collecting, storing and using that information in its databases. Intrepid Travel may use your personal information for its future promotional and marketing purposes, including contacting you via electronic messages, subject to the requirements of the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). All direct marketing communications sent by Intrepid Travel will include a functional unsubscribe facility that complies with the Spam Regulations 2021 (Cth).

Jurisdiction

  1. The promotion shall be governed by the laws in place in New South Wales, Australia.

General

The Promoter and its affiliates reserve the right to amend or withdraw the prize draw and any of the prizes in the event of any unforeseen circumstances outside their reasonable control. Prizes are subject to availability. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value.

Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

  1. The Terms and Conditions and the Competition are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. To the extent permitted by applicable U.S. law, entrants agree that any dispute arising from participation by a U.S. resident shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively in accordance with the governing law specified above. The Competition is subject to all applicable laws and is void where prohibited or where applicable law requires the Promoter to register or otherwise regulate this Competition.
  2. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
  3. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or to cancel, suspend or modify the Competition at any time where reasonably necessary. Entrants who breach these Terms and Conditions, violate any applicable law in connection with their participation, tamper with the operation of the Competition or engage in any conduct that the Promoter determines (in its sole discretion) to be unfair, dishonest, misleading or detrimental to the Promoter, the Competition or any other entrant may be disqualified.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY/RELEASE

  1. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, by entering the Competition you agree to release and hold harmless the Promoter and all Released Parties (including Intrepid Travel) from any liability, and waive any and all claims and causes of action, arising out of or in connection with: (a) the Competition; or (b) the delivery, mis-delivery, acceptance, possession, use or inability to use any prize. This includes, without limitation, any claims, costs, losses, damages or personal injuries, whether arising under contract, tort (including negligence), statute or otherwise.
  2. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes any rights or remedies that may not be waived under applicable Australian, U.S. federal or U.S. state law, including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or fraud where such limitation is prohibited.

NAME AND LIKENESS RIGHTS

  1. Except where prohibited by law, by entering the Competition you consent to the Promoter using your name, country, city or state of residence, likeness, image, photographs, audio or video recordings, and prize information for advertising, marketing and promotional purposes (including public advertising and publication of a winner list), in any media worldwide, without further permission or compensation.
  2. Except where prohibited by law, by accepting a Prize, a winner grants the Promoter the right to use the winner's name, country city and state of residence, likeness, image, and prize information for promotional and advertising purposes in any media worldwide, without additional compensation.

LICENSE TO SUBMISSIONS

  1. By entering the Competition and submitting your Submission, you grant the Promoter a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, transferable and sublicensable, non-exclusive licence to use your Submission (in whole or in part) for the purposes of administering the Competition and for the Promoter's advertising, marketing and promotional activities. This includes the right to publish, reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt, edit, modify, translate, create derivative works from and otherwise use your Submission in any form, media or technology now known or later developed.
  2. You acknowledge that the Promoter has no obligation to use, publish or retain your Submission, or to return it to you.
  3. You warrant that your Submission is your original work and that you have obtained all necessary permissions, licences, consents and releases required for the Promoter to exercise the rights granted under these Terms and Conditions. You agree to provide any further documentation reasonably requested by the Promoter (at the Promoter's reasonable expense) to confirm or perfect the rights granted under this clause.
  4. To the extent permitted by law, you consent to the Promoter doing any act or omission in relation to your Submission that may otherwise infringe your moral rights under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) or equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions.

NO FACEBOOK OR OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM ENDORSEMENT

  1. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), or any other social media platform (each, a "Social Media Platform"). You understand that when you use or interact with a Social Media Platform in connection with the Competition, you do so in accordance with the terms, conditions, and policies that apply to that platform. You are responsible for reviewing the applicable terms and policies (including privacy and data collection practices) for each Social Media Platform before using or interacting with that platform in relation to the Competition.
