Coronavirus (COVID-19) travel restrictions in Myanmar – updated 1 December 2020
All international flights are suspended until at least 15 December. Read the latest updates on the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
New tourist visa applications are suspended. Myanmar authorities may accept business visas for foreign nationals with a compelling case. To obtain permission, you or your employer must submit a compelling case to the nearest Myanmar Embassy. Arrangements are subject to change and at short notice.
- All passengers arriving to Myanmar will have their temperatures checked
- Foreign nationals must provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result. Check the with your airline for pre-departure requirements and timings on the test
- Quarantine for new arrivals is 14 days in total.
It is compulsory to wear a face mask in public.
When crossing district borders, in some areas you may be required to self-isolate. Stay up to date with local news, as the situation is changing fast.
Tropical Storm Pabuk - January 2019
Myanmar is preparing for Tropical Storm Pabuk as it makes its way westward into the Gulf of Thailand. The system is due to make landfall on 3 January in southern Thailand before continuing onwards to Myanmar, where it's likely to impact the country on January 4th.
Many towns and neighboring archipelagos in southern Myanmar will be impacted, with a high risk of heavy rainfall and coastal flooding. The storm has already produced torrential rains and flooding in Vietnam and Cambodia. Meteorologists are continually monitoring the storm system as there are concerns it could gather strength in the Gulf and evolve into a cyclone as it heads towards Thailand and Myanmar.
Local transport services will be impacted by the storm.
Please check with authorities for more information, follow any official warnings and listen to local news reports to monitor the situation. Failure to comply with directives from government authorities means you won't be covered by travel insurance.
