With all the excitement of packing your bags, jumping on a plane, and jetting off to a faraway destination, travel insurance may be the last thing on your mind.
If you’ve left home without travel insurance or your policy has run out and you’re still on the road, don’t panic, World Nomads has got you covered. You can buy a World Nomads policy online, anytime, from anywhere in the world.
We know it’s easy to forget to consider travel insurance. That’s why we’ve designed simple and flexible travel insurance so you can have access to our travel insurance options when you need it, even while traveling. If you forgot to buy a policy before you started your trip, are outside your home country without insurance, or your cover has ended but your trip hasn’t, you can buy a World Nomads policy 24/7 online.
Its easy, all you need is a good internet connection. Once you’re online, visit our website and get a quote. Answer a few simple questions about your trip and follow the purchase path prompts that will outline what type of cover, benefits and extras we offer. Then select the plan that suits your specific needs, read and accept the terms and conditions, pay for your insurance, and you’re done.
If you buy a policy while traveling, waiting periods, conditions and restrictions on cover do apply. This means you may have to wait up to 72 hours for full cover to apply. Certain benefits (like pre-trip cancellation) may not apply if you’ve already left your home country.
To find out if you may need to wait for your travel insurance to kick in, check out our Help Center article on waiting periods. For the most accurate information, you will need to add in your country of residence, and we will display the right information for you.
Most policies can cover you straight away if you're injured in an accident after you buy a policy. Your policy wording will have full details to understand the cover, limits, terms and conditions, and exclusions that apply.
Traveller tip: your exact coverage benefits will depend on your Country of Residence and the plan you select, each with different policy benefits and limits to cover. Make sure you read your World Nomads policy, which explains in more detail the types of situations that are and are not covered.
When considering travel insurance for your next overseas holiday, you want to know that cover will be available for all those unexpected events that may happen. World Nomads Standard and Explorer plans may offer cover (up to the benefit limits) for the following, when you need it the most:
Our policies aren’t designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions in the policy wording for full details so that there are no surprises if you need to use it. If you’re not sure if something is covered get in touch.

On the 25th of December I woke up feeling nausea, fever, headache, and lethargy. After two days with the symptoms not ceasing I went to a clinic and was admitted with severe malaria. I stayed in the hospital for two days taking shots for malaria and also saline drip.
