The list now includes pickleball, footgolf and live action role play (LARP) for U.S. and Canadian residents.
World Nomads’ already robust list of activities covered includes more than 150 adventure sports and pursuits – from skiing and surfing to backpacking and bungee jumping.

And with the strong rise in popularity of sports like pickleball and footgolf, as well as the growth in live-action role play events and organizations, we have seen an increase in the number of travelers who go to great lengths and distances to pursue their passions.

The U.S. Sports and Fitness Industry Association has named pickleball one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, with an estimated 4.8 million players in the U.S. alone. Pickleball Canada estimates there are at least one million monthly players in Canada. The game is played by two or four players using solid paddles to hit a perforated ball over a net. Its popularity has risen sharply. Tournaments are now played all over the world.
More than half of all pickleball players are estimated to be over the age of 55, and injuries are common. According to the Journal of Emergency Medicine, approximately 19,000 pickleball injuries are reported annually.
Live-action role play, originally inspired by board games such as Dungeons and Dragons, involves players dressing up and staying in character throughout an event’s duration. Games are often fantasy or medieval-themed and involve some form of combat, so injuries are not uncommon.
“Pickleball, footgolf and LARP players want to make sure that when they travel to participate in these activities, they are covered if they are injured or if their gear is lost or stolen,” Ms Tunnah said.
