[Oakland, California - March 3, 2026] World Nomads and Intrepid Travel have partnered to launch a travel giveaway celebrating meaningful, locally-led travel experiences in Japan. Running from March 3 to March 30, travelers are invited to share an experience in Japan they’d most like to try, for the chance to travel with a friend on Intrepid’s 12-day Japan: Land of the Rising Sun trip. The prize also includes $1,500 USD toward flights and $300 USD towards travel insurance, courtesy of World Nomads.

Journeying from Tokyo to Kyoto with a small group and local guide, the trip will introduce travelers to the iconic landmarks and lesser-known cities across Central and Western Japan. Trip highlights include cruising on Ashinoko Lake, under the backdrop of Mount Fuji in Hakone, staying with a local family in Hagi, and visiting the iconic floating torii gate of Miyajima Island. Travelers will also explore Takayama’s Hida Folk Village, reflect at Hiroshima’s Peace Park and walk through Kyoto’s historic Gion District.

“At World Nomads, we believe travel is about pushing boundaries and embracing the extraordinary,” said Christina Tunnah, Head of Marketing and Brands at World Nomads. “Partnering with Intrepid allows us to inspire our travel community to imagine what’s possible and to feel confident taking those journeys knowing they’re supported every step of the way.”

Intrepid Travel, a long-time partner of World Nomads, is known for its small-group trips focused on immersive, locally-led experiences in destinations around the world. In 2025, Intrepid recorded an 17% year-on-year increase in bookings to Japan, reflecting the destination’s continued growth in global popularity.

"Japan has experienced strong tourism growth in recent years and for good reason,” said Erica Kritikides, General Manager of Experiences at Intrepid Travel. “Consistently topping global travel safety rankings and easily accessible via frequent international flights, it is a destination where long-held traditions sit alongside cutting-edge technology, creating a fascinating mix for travelers.

“With a local leader and traveling in a small group, Intrepid takes travelers beyond the usual hotspots, allowing travelers to enjoy immersive, locally-led experiences that truly connect them to the heart of the destination.”

The competition is open to eligible entrants over the age of 18, globally - except in countries where prohibited. The total prize package is worth nearly $15,000 USD and the winner will be announced on April 14, 2026 EST.
