Join a week of moving words from 18 to 24 May when hundreds of leading international and Australian writers converge on Sydney to take part in Sydney Writers’ Festival.

Each year, the festival program features a diverse range of over 300 events including talks, panel discussions, debates, readings, workshops and performances - and many are free.

International guests include Nigerian writer and Orange Prize-winner Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, ‘Brick Lane’ author Monica Ali, Pakistan’s Mohammed Hanif, Canadian sensation Andrew Davidson, US writer Philipp Meyer whose novel ‘American Rust’ has drawn comparisons to Cormac McCarthy and Hemingway, one of the truly great writers of this age Kazuo Ishiguro, legendary ‘New Yorker’ music critic Alex Ross and Canada’s Christian Lander of Stuff White People Like fame.

As always, the Festival also boasts a guestlist of more than 300 Australian writers, among them Richard Flanagan, Germaine Greer, Louis Nowra, Sonya Hartnett and Robert Dessaix. The program also features Australian music icons Don Walker and Steven Cummings as well as leading investigative journalists including Paul McGeough, Sally Neighbour, Tony Maniaty and David Marr.

Level of Participation

 3 - shy types can just sit in the back quietly, whilst others will dive in headfirst for workshops or author Q&As.
