No need for a tourist map on Nauru.)</em></p> <h2>Water, Health &amp; Local Laws</h2> <p>There is only one source of fresh water on the island, Buada Lagoon, but it is not safe for swimming.</p> <p>Drinking water comes from an ageing desalination plant and supplies are limited.</p> <p>Nauru is subject to periodic outbreaks of typhoid. Drink or use only boiled or bottled water and avoid ice in drinks.</p> <p>If you suffer from diarrhoea during a visit to Nauru you should seek immediate medical attention.</p> <p>Dengue fever occurs in Nauru frequently.</p> <p>Beware of stonefish in the reefs</p> <p>Beware of wild dogs, some advise carrying a stick to ward them off at all times.</p> <p>Homosexuality is technically illegal in Nauru, so open displays of affection between same-sex partners may land you in trouble.</p> 0
